Deploying a VIZIT_SETTINGS Object to a Page with Essential Embedded

Vizit Versions 4.1 and above

The method for deploying a VIZIT_SETTINGS object to a SharePoint page with Vizit embedded is to use BOTH a Content Editor Web Part and the Vizit Web Part.  Inside the Content Editor Web Part, you will place a DIV specifying an id and a width and height using the style attribute.  The Vizit Web Part is where you will place your VIZIT_SETTINGS object.  Follow the steps below:

    1. Click Site Actions and choose ‘Edit Page’.
    2. In the desired Web Part zone (where you would like Essential embedded), click ‘Add a Web Part’.
    3. Choose the Content Editor Web Part which can be found in the Media and Content Category.
    4. Click the area within the Content Editor Web Part that says ‘Click here to add new content’.
    5. In the Format Text tab in the Ribbon, expand the HTML drop down in the Markup Ribbon Group and choose ‘Edit HTML Source’.
    6. Create a DIV with an id and specify the width and height via the style attribute:

          <div id="test" style= "width: 500px; height: 400px;"></div>
    7. Next, in one of the Web Part zones, click ‘Add a Web Part’.
    8. Choose the Vizit Web Part which can be found in the Vizit Category.
    9. Click on the ‘Vizit Web Part Menu’ in the upper right corner of the Web Part.
    10. Select ‘Edit Web Part’.
    11. Click on the ‘Advanced’ checkbox, then the ‘Customize’ button.
    12. Place your VIZIT_SETTINGS object here so it looks like the following. (Note: DO NOT put javascript tags in your code):

          var VIZIT_SETTINGS = {
               renderTo: 'test',
               // your settings go here.
          };
    13. Click either OK or Apply and exit Edit Mode.

Vizit Versions 4.0 and earlier

The method for deploying a VIZIT_SETTINGS object to a SharePoint page with Vizit embedded is to use only a Content Editor Web Part.  The Vizit Web Part cannot be added to the page and embedded because the Vizit Web Part already adds VIZIT_SETTINGS to the page to allow Essential to be embedded.  In Versions 4.0 and earlier, you will need to add both VIZIT_SETTINGS in a script block as well as create a DIV on the page to renderTo.  Both can be in the same Content Editor Web Part.

    6. Create a DIV with an id and specify the width and height via the style attribute. Also create a script block that looks like the following:

          <div id="test" style= "width: 500px; height: 400px;"></div>
          <script type="text/javascript">
          var VIZIT_SETTINGS = {          renderTo: 'test',
               // your settings go here.
          }
          </script>
    7. Click OK to exit Edit Mode.
